7 months with my Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra (i7 model): a mini review and what you should know before buying one
The Good:
-lightweight (less than 4 pounds)
-decent to good performance for beginner/intermediate level content creation tasks (I don't really game so I can't comment on that)
-a color-precise screen
-the build feels premium, if a bit dull
-generous education offer
The Bad:
-horrifying trackpad issues only recently fixed by a software update (from Samsung). Before that fix, this trackpad would die after an hour or two and then stayed dead until a semi-major Window or Samsung update. Impossible to do anything until that December software update
-unusable in any outdoor area because the screen is too reflective. Today is a cloudy day and on this rooftop garden, I have to set the brightness over 65% to read anything on my screen. Any brightness below that and the screen is only a mirror
-battery is relatively short: 8 hrs is usually what I could get in 1 charge without using the GPU (this is already the less-power-hungry i7 model and I have optimised my battery consumption by removing bloatwares. I also primarily use my laptop with a low brightness level, about 30%)
-quite a few power hungry bloatwares from Samsung
-16GB ram was already in the low end for content creation in 2014, let alone 2024
-trade-in value is very disappointing(about 25% of my purchase price), already factoring in Samsung trade-in bonus policy.
